Dear Democrats and Friends:
What a great week it has been for Democrats!
First we have the announcement that over 7 Million Americans were able to get health insurance thanks to the Affordable Care Act! We owe a great deal of thanks to the many volunteers who have, and continue to work tirelessly to make sure all Americans have proper medical insurance.
Secondly we have our first County Party meeting coming up a week from today (Thursday, April 17th). The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at North Charleston City Hall. One of the things I want to do as Chair is engage our friends and allies. To do that we will be bringing in a guest speaker for each County Party meeting. For this first meeting we will have our great Auditor Peter Tecklenburg and Patrick Bell who is running for RMC. They will be discussing the importance of County-wide races. Some future guest speakers include Dot Scott and Rev. Darby from the NAACP, and Warren Redman-Gress from AFFA. You want to miss the county meetings!
The last item I want to draw to your attention is the State Convention On May 2 and 3. Friday night will feature the Jefferson Jackson dinner where Governor Tim Kaine is the keynote (Tickets available here) followed by the world famous Jim Clyburn Fish Fry! On Saturday the convention will occur and the keynote will be Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard who is a phenominal speaker. We have a few positions left if you are interested in being an alternate delegate to the convention. If you are please email Mimi.
Hope to see you next Thursday at the County meeting! We know that to win in November we need the resources to compete. We are asking every Democrat in Charleston County to give $5/month. So many people have already done this but we wanted to provide the link for those who haven't been able to yet. Please sign up for "Give Us 5" or make a one-time donation HERE.
